Detailed work on the custom lighting planning by Platinlux for the lighting concept

After a personal consultation, we develop creative ideas and draw on over 100 manufacturers and producers – custom-made products are also possible. With precise software, powerful hardware and a clear structure, we create plans that can be implemented immediately on the construction site.

    Perfect lighting design means …

… first and foremost, the harmonious placement of light points in balance with architecture and the function of the space. Technology and aesthetics go hand in hand. Through close coordination with architects and craftsmen, a lighting concept is created that delivers atmosphere and performs reliably.

  • 2
Why our custom lighting design comes at no cost …

… even though it can be very complex? We always plan with cost awareness and true passion. If the result meets the client’s expectations, our collaboration with more than 100 manufacturers allows us to deliver both budget-friendly projects and luxurious, highly innovative lighting solutions.

  • 3
The duration of the lighting design process …

… mainly depends on the size of the building or the project. The initial consultation for an apartment lighting plan usually takes about one to two hours, followed by two to three additional meetings. The first planning meeting for a single-family home typically lasts around two hours.

  • 4
Coordination on the construction site …

… is essential for the successful implementation of the lighting design. We act as the central interface between electricians, clients, architects and other trades, and—along with providing all necessary information—can also supply experienced staff for the installation of lamps and luminaires upon request.

  • 5
    The most important aspects are:
    • Placement of light points
    • Integration of furniture, the living concept and the planning of different contractors
    • Coordination of contractors (electricians, possibly masons, plasterers, tilers, carpenters)
    • Lighting control systems (e.g. KNX systems)

Where experience meets emotion, your personal happiness is created

Whether it's a new build or a renovation, our lighting design brings clarity, atmosphere and style to your home. It is based on the knowledge and experience of our lighting designers, who not only understand light, but feel it. Every light point is precisely positioned, every luminaire carefully selected. And if there are still doubts, we carry out an internal lighting calculation until everything appears in perfect light.

Designer luminaire as part of the custom lighting planning by Platinlux

A lighting analysis shows how light affects a room – precisely, comprehensibly and reliably. It creates planning security and confidence, especially in sensitive areas.

Whether in a doctor's surgery, school, office or public space, a lighting analysis helps to optimally coordinate the amount of light and glare. This allows UGR values to be complied with and even savings to be achieved. We work with DIALux and, if necessary, with other programmes or external partners.

What do we need for efficient lighting analysis?

  • An open planning file (.dwg, .vwx, .dxf, etc.)
  • Room data with height specifications, windows, doors
  • A sketch showing the exact positioning of furniture and workstations, especially places with PCs and monitors
  • Information on the colour and texture of floors, furniture and walls
  • A precise specification of the luminaire types (by us, the architect or planner, if necessary)

How much does a lighting analysis cost?

The price of a lighting calculation depends on the scope and quality of the information provided, as well as the size and complexity of your project. The clearer the data, the less work is required. If many details are unclear, the planning requirements increase and so do the costs. The price range varies from less than a hundred to several hundred pounds or more. It is best to request your lighting calculation directly from us – with all available documentation so that we can provide you with a precise and fair cost estimate.

In which cases is a light analysis useful?

First, take advantage of our free lighting consultation. We can decide together whether a lighting calculation is necessary. Is it a sensitive area where a certain lux level or glare-free lighting must be achieved without fail? Then a lighting calculation is definitely recommended. The same applies to all areas for which a lighting calculation is required by law.

Is converting to LED really worth it – or is it just a trend? How much energy can actually be saved, and when does the switch start to pay off?

In addition to energy consumption, the cost of the light bulbs and how often they need to be replaced also play a role. It should also be noted that defective lights look bad in prestigious environments. Good LED bulbs and lights last an extremely long time when used and operated correctly.

    Amortisation calculation for LED lighting

Upon request, we calculate the amortisation period for your project. This depends on the lighting used and planned. To ensure accurate results, we require certain project data and, if necessary, an on-site appointment.

  • 2
What information is required for an amortisation calculation of LED lighting?

In advance, we need the following information from you:

    • Which lights are in operation and how many?
    • How many hours per day are the lights used?
    • What are your current electricity costs?
  • 3
Are there standard values for the amortisation period of LED luminaires?

In most cases, the amortisation period ranges between two and six years. It depends on the efficiency and operating time of the previously used light sources. For example, upgrading to LED lighting can be worthwhile for a retail space, while it may be less beneficial for a private household.

  • 4
Who benefits from upgrading to LED lighting?

Based on experience, an upgrade is particularly interesting for:

    • Retail lighting (spotlights, fluorescent tubes, indirect lighting)
    • Hotels (interior and exterior lighting)
    • Condominiums (corridor lighting, outdoor lighting)
    • Office spaces and medical practices
    • Schools, care facilities and retirement homes

Please arrange your lighting design appointment in advance by emailing info@platinlux.com or calling +39 0473 29 22 84. Our lighting designers look forward to meeting you and will be happy to take a look at your documents in advance so that everything is in the best light for your first consultation.
